Gemma Jade set to launch IndieGogo Campaign for Women’s Empowerment on Fashion Revolution Day

Gemma Jade may be an underdog in the cutthroat jewelry industry, but this little company has big dreams. They seek to stop the cycle of chronic poverty and are helping women to create a brighter future, one woman at a time.

Driven by a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of women, they are empowering women by promoting education and employment. Their company, run entirely by women, offers opportunities to underprivileged women in Guatemala. If they succeed, they plan on doing so worldwide.

Rejecting the prevalent use of high markups in jewelry to denote quality and create false sense of exclusivity, Gemma Jade keeps its prices affordable because they believe that every woman deserves to wear something special. The collection uses AAA Jadeite, a unique and rare gemstone previously earmarked for high-end designers like Lorraine Schwartz.

To achieve their lofty dreams, Gemma Jade is raising capital for expansion through an IndieGogo Campaign, which is set to launch on April 24, 2014. It is no coincidence that this day marks the first Fashion Revolution Day.  Gemma Jade is advocating for FRD, a global movement celebrating fashion as a positive influence, and has set out to transform the fashion industry as we know it.

The campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the invisible workforce behind what we wear, calls for consumers to make a conscious decision about what they are truly championing with the fashion they wear. It exposes the true cost of fashion, aspiring to show the world that change is possible, and that fashion and ethics can go hand in hand.
